Gabe, I have noticed that too! On weekends when my husband is in school and I go to the park, it is sometimes hard to find a mom! I love watching the dads interact with their kids and can't help but wonder what mom is doing: sleeping? Getting a manicure or a massage? Taking care of business she has no time for during the week? Taking care of herself I hope. A much needed time for most moms, and for all kids who don't see their daddy much during the week. In the end, everybody wins, when you think about it. It's a way of re-establishing some balance in the relational exchange in the family. I'd love to hear other dads' perspectives, but that is my take on that.
And I'll link it to your previous post about family night, which to me is the "bringing it all back together after the re-balancing" component. So important. We don't do that enough and your post was inspiring. Thank you for your insights :)
